Ensuring continuity of research

As early as the constitutive meeting of the competence network multiple sclerosis in September 2009, the members discussed the founding of a non-profit organization. At the founding meeting, during the kick-off symposium at the end of March 2010 in Munich, the articles of the organization were unanimously adopted. Being a separate legal entity, the organization gives the KKNMS the necessary capacity to act and guarantees the sustainability of the structural measures after the grant from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research has ended.

The organization will also serve as a contact for physicians, pharmaceutical companies, patients as well as professional organizations (i.e. the German Society for Neurology, the German MS Society). It has the goal of promoting the network of MS research in Germany and consolidating the exchange between research and patient care.

The executive board confirmed

The executive board, which was elected at the constitutive meeting of the KKNMS in September 2009, has been confirmed by the members. The obligatory posts of secretary and treasurer for the organization are held by Prof. Dr. Ralf Gold and Prof. Dr. Jutta Gärtner, respectively. The executive board term in office will be 4 years for at first and afterwards will be shortened to 3 years.

Private persons, companies and public institutions may support the work of the non-profit organization as sustaining members. The organization is located in Munich.
