When MS „escalates“ – immunotherapeutic treatmentsWith the introduction of immunotherapeutics, neurologists’ treatment options have considerably improved. Patients who despite basis therapy (i.e. with interferon beta or glatiramer acetate) continue to have relapses with an aggressive course, or who from begin on have a very active disease course, can be treated using escalation therapy.
The following drugs are currently used for the immunotherapy: mitoxantrone, but it is only second choice for patients with the relapsing-remitting disease formist.
