Primi inter pares – the first among equals
The executive board of the KKNMS is comprised of five persons and was elected by the KKNMS members to serve a four-year term for the first period and later a three-year term. The founding executive committee consists of two members each from the networks CONTROLMS and UNDERSTANDMS as well as a representative from CHILDRENMS.
Prof. Dr. Heinz Wiendl (spokesperson)
Prof. Dr. Wiendl is the director of the Clinic for Neurology, Inflammatory Diseases of the Nervous System and Neurooncology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Muenster. As spokesperson for the KKNMS he is the public representative for the competence network multiple sclerosis. He also coordinates the research network UNDERSTANDMS.
Prof. Dr. Bernhard Hemmer (first deputy spokesperson)
Prof. Dr. Hemmer is the head of the Neurological Clinic at the Clinic rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich. He is the deputy spokesperson of the competence network multiple sclerosis. He also heads the research network CONTROLMS and organizes the biobanking task force.
Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Brück (second deputy spokesperson)
Prof. Dr. Brück is the director of the Institute of Neuropathology of the University Medical Center Göttingen. In addition to his function as a member of the executive board he also is the second coordinator of the research networks UNDERSTANDMS and CHILDRENMS. He also heads the task force CNS pathology.
Prof. Dr. Ralf GoldProf. Dr. Gold heads the Neurological Clinic of the Ruhr University of Bochum. In the research network CONTROLMS he serves as deputy spokesperson. He is also responsible for the network-wide cohort study which includes 1000 patients with early stage MS who will be followed up for more than 10 years.
Prof. Dr. Jutta Gärtner
Prof. Dr. Gärtner is the managing director of the Center for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine of the University Medical Center Göttingen, where she heads the neuropediatric unit of the university pediatric clinic. She is also spokesperson for the research network CHILDRENMS.
