Insight into the brain

The task force "CNS pathology“ will establish a MS donor program for brain tissue and spinal cord. The biosamples obtained will be collected in a German MS tissue bank. Study of such biomaterial is extremely important for many subprojects within the KKNMS.

Milestone for MS research

In contrast to other European countries (i.e. The Netherlands, England), there is no specific MS donor program in Germany. A corresponding databank will decisively advance MS research in Germany and contribute to a better understanding of central nervous system damage in MS. Special protocols developed for tissue collection and autopsies will be evaluated by an ethics committee.

The members of this task force will work closely with Brain Net, another project funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research, as well as the German MS Society (DMSG).
