The disease of 1,000 faces, as MS is also known due to the variety of its symptoms, is one of the most common neurological diseases in young adulthood. It is still incurable. It is therefore all the more important to get to the bottom of the causes and development of the disease. Furthermore, diagnostic and therapeutic approaches must be further developed. The networked research in the disease-related Multiple Sclerosis Competence Network (KKNMS) offers the best conditions for this, as the Germany-wide cooperation of leading MS experts bundles expertise that is also visible internationally.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

During the period of BMBF funding (until 2019), the KKNMS set different priorities in five consortia in order to get to the bottom of multiple sclerosis: Infrastructure, Cohorts and Trials, Prognostic and Treatment markers, Determinants of MS phenotypes and Modeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
